Header Type of Air Cooled


The cover plate header is used for fluids with fouling factors when a frequent
mechanical cleaning is necessary It is used also for very corrosive process
fluids so as to periodically check the corrosion allowance.


The welded bonnet type is used to in some cases for special services as ammonia condensers, freon condensers and vacuum condensers. One disadvantage consists in the difficult access to the inside of the tubes in case of leakage or fouling.


A large circular manifold is used in some cases when the allowable pressure drop is very low. This large manifold ensures an equal distribution of fluid flow in the tubes. The tube sheets are directly welded to the manifold. This type is used for vacuum steam condensers and refrigeration units.



The plug header is the most commonly used up to 200 bar working pressure. The plug hole opposite each tube allows expansion of the tube in the tube sheet, mechanical cleaning, and plugging in case of leakage. Seal welding or strength welding can be provided for high partial hydrogen pressure service solution than the use of pipe headers generally used for over 200 bar service pressure.


The pipe headers are used for working pressures over 200 bars. U-bend tubes are welded to the weldolets on the pipe. The welds are heat treated and X-ray tested.

  4. G-FIN : Fins are mechanicallyembedded in a groove tothe base tube, Temperature400° C (590° F)
  5. EXTRUDED-FIN : Fins are integrallyproduced through inthread rolling processTemperature310° C (590° F)
  6. LOW-FIN : Integral finning processTemperature dependsof the base-tube material


We can supply air cooler design by using Insert Wire Matrix to increase tube transfer Coefficient
